BlackBerry developer events come in all shapes and sizes. We really want to bring BlackBerry 10 to developers so they can create something truly amazing – and as you may have noticed recently, #TeamBlackBerry never stops, especially in an exciting time like this. So we have decided to step it up a notch…well, actually, almost 6000 mt (or 20,000 ft).

On January 20th, 2013 – just 10 days before the launch event for BlackBerry 10 – ten intrepid developers will be trekking to the summit of Kilimanjaro. On the way to the top, we will be developing a charity application in the most strenuous hackathon ever – and we want to take you with us.

We will build and deploy the application right at the top of the mountain – but there will be a lot of activity throughout the climb. We will have BlackBerry 10 devices to record it all so that you can enjoy the adventure later, but you can also join the brave crew on Twitter for live-tweeting during the event.

Besides the fun and the adventurous coding, we will also be raising money for a charity. If you wish to contribute and help us in this challenge, you can go to this site and give your donation to Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders.

See you at the top!

@BlackBerryLuca, @mweitzel, @lelany, @alexbowker, @glennthestein, @crwblyth, @BenQLive, @ecolquhoun and two other Twitterless climbers
