The developer relations team at Research In Motion® (RIM) is extremely excited about the new BlackBerry® PlayBook™. In order to kick start development for BlackBerry PlayBook and the new BlackBerry Tablet OS, we have added the below special sessions to the BlackBerry DEVCON 2010 session list.

Introduction to BlackBerry Tablet OS

This session will introduce the power and flexibility of the new BlackBerry Tablet OS. Dan Dodge, CEO and Founder of QNX, will discuss how the BlackBerry Tablet OS has been built for developers from the metal up based on a unique microkernel architecture.

Introduction to Adobe Flash Builder

Come get an introduction to Adobe® Flash®-based rich Internet application (RIA) development using Flash Builder 4. In this session you will learn about the runtimes, tools and workflow used for application development. Along the way we will cover building a basic user interface (UI) that accesses remote data, repurposing that content for delivery outside of the browser with Adobe® AIR®, and get a closer look at some of the more interesting APIs.

About Mike Kirkup

Mike Kirkup is the Director for the Developer Relations program at Research In Motion (RIM), which is responsible for managing the technical relationships and programs for RIM’s developer community worldwide. Mike and his team work with RIM’s developer community to provide support and guidance as developers work to integrate their applications to the BlackBerry platform. Mike joined RIM in 2001 as a Security Software Developer in RIM’s Wireless Security Group. As part of the Wireless Securty group, Mike contributed to the development of the BlackBerry Cryptography API, S/MIME and PGP implementations. Mike holds a Masters of Management Science and a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
