Bloggers Pick: Consumer Presentations at Dev Con (Brian Zubert)

Dev Con

The BlackBerry® Developer Conference is fast approaching, bringing with it a truckload of exciting sessions for both the experienced and budding developer. While we highly recommend you check out the Session Catalog yourself, who better to fill you in than the esteemed blogging team at the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog? Below you’ll find Sr. Application Development Consultant Brian Zubert’s picks for the three most exciting sessions regarding commercial consumer development.

DEV09 – Game On: Building High Quality Games for BlackBerry Smartphones
So I know we weren’t supposed to pick our own sessions, but I did anyway. Why? Well, I don’t know how many people have noticed, but there’s a “Futures” icon attached to this presentation. Believe me when I tell you, whether or not you’re a game developer, you will kick yourself if you miss this one.

DEV41 – Advanced Graphics: Putting the Wow-Factor into your Application
I’ve gone and done it again, highlighting my own session. Let me first put your fears to rest, I’ll be saying very little in this session, leaving almost all the speaking to my co-presenter. DEV09 and DEV41 are very much related to one another and as a UI developer, you’ll want to be at both.

COM10 – Advanced UI Development: Animations, Custom Layouts, and Other Tricks
I’m mostly excited about this one because of the presenter, Peter Werry, from Poynt. I’ve always been a huge fan of the UI in the Poynt application and am very interested in what Peter’s going to share around the approaches they’ve taken. Having worked with Peter over the past year and a half, he’s always pushed the limits of the platform and I can’t wait to see what he’s pulled together. Unfortunately COM10 and DEV09 take place during the same timeslot. If you’re sending two developers to the conference, this would be a good time to split up and make sure you’re soaking in the goodness from both sessions. If you’re the only person going, not to worry, all sessions will be recorded and available to conference attendees afterwards.

Post a comment and let us know which sessions you’re excited for. We hope to see you there!
