Dev Con

The final countdown is on… we are now less than 2 weeks away from the 2009 BlackBerry® Developer Conference! Already registered? Great! We can’t wait to meet you in San Francisco to share sessions, activities, ideas – and a lot of fun! If not, it’s not too late – head over to www.blackberrydeveloperconference.com and register now!

As we approach the big show I want to draw your attention to two can’t-miss events as you finalize your conference schedule and travel plans.

The BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge – Final 16 have been announced. These 16 finalists have already received a prize package valued at more than US$5,000. In addition to receiving one week in the BlackBerry App World™ featured application carousel and one BlackBerry smartphone, each finalist also received a free pass to the BlackBerry Developer Conference. Why you ask?

I’m so glad you asked! The Final 16 will compete on-stage on the opening night of the BlackBerry Developer Conference in front of a LIVE audience and celebrity judging panel. Who will come out on top?! With more than US$100,000 in prizes at stake, this is sure to be an exciting event!

Also new this year, is BlackBerry Developer Day. This is a fourth day we have added to the conference – and it is included free in your DevCon registration! Developer Day is all about connecting with your fellow developers to share ideas.

The Developer Day agenda is jam-packed! Here are just a few highlights:

  • Join interactive discussion sessions and roundtables with Research In Motion (RIM) developers and other leaders responsible for the vision and development of the BlackBerry platform and programs. Developer Day sessions are listed in the session catalog. Sign up early – space is limited!
  • Attend or speak at the Developer Soapbox. Nominate a topic and vie for the votes of fellow attendees to give you 5 minutes on stage to speak your mind and share your passion. The only rules are no slides, and no product pitches allowed!
  • BlackBerry Developer Lab Quiz Revealed will present answers for the lab challenge and announce the winners!
  • Compete in the BlackBerry Remote Control Challenge with LEGO® MINDSTORM robots!
